From Blood and Ash - Jennifer L. Armentrout

I admit, I'm hard on books. I know how much blood, sweat, and tears goes into its making, not to mention the time that it takes to get a book from the first word on the page into a reader's hands. So, when I don't like I book, I inevitably feel terrible. This was one such instance.

My review here will not be as complete as I would like, because I did not finish this book. The pacing was glacial. I did not like the FMC. There was this constant reminder about the Ascension, but no real information as to what that actually was. Just a vague idea and a sense of foreboding. I was, frankly, bored.

I see what the author was trying to do. I really think I understand her viewpoint, but I will not commit myself to many hours for a book that I’m not enjoying. Life is too short.

I know this is a much-loved novel, and a part of me can understand why. But I did not stick around because I would rather be doing laundry.

I guess this more turned into a lesson about DNFs than about From Blood and Ash. All, if you don’t like a book, don’t read it. Full stop. End of story (literally).
